National Night Out 4:00 pm
National Night Out
Oct 1 @ 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm
National Night Out @ Lakeway Police Department
POLICE DEPARTMENT OPEN HOUSE: There will be an Open House at the Lakeway Police Department that evening from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. The event will give the public a chance to meet different police department divisions, receive crime prevention material and take a tour of the facility. The tour will allow individuals the chance to check out the shooting simulator and take a test with the drunk goggles. There will also be a variety of handouts for children, including stickers, coloring books and wristbands. Whether you have a neighborhood gathering to attend that evening, or don’t have one, stop by the Lakeway Police Department that afternoon to see the police facility and visit with different officers.  NEIGHBORHOOD GATHERINGS National Night Out (NNO) is an annual event designed to strengthen our community by encouraging citizen engagement with their neighbors and with the police. NNO heightens crime-prevention awareness, builds support and participation in local anti-crime programs, and most importantly, sends a message that our neighborhoods are organized and taking a stand against crime. It’s also the perfect opportunity to get to know your neighbors and enjoy an evening among friends. NNO has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight to keep our city safe.  Each year, our officers, police staff and city leaders visit dozens of neighborhood parties throughout the community. We always enjoy meeting our residents, sharing important safety advice, and trying some of the great food and treats! Thank you for everyone who chooses to participate in this important event

Lakeway Players present The Kitchen Witches
Oct 3 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Lakeway Players present The Kitchen Witches @ Lakeway Activity Center
The Lakeway Players are thrilled to present “The Kitchen Witches,” a comedy directed by the talented Cindy Baker. Get ready for a side-splitting dish of revenge served piping hot! Isobel Lomax and Dolly Biddle are two seasoned cable-access cooking show hostesses with a shared history as spicy as their recipes. Their simmering feud has been bubbling for thirty years, ever since a charming fellow named Larry Biddle entered the picture. But when fate (and ratings) force them to co-host a new show called “The Kitchen Witches,” the fireworks begin to fly! Insults are flung faster than flour, and the only thing hotter than their tempers is the spotlight. Their long-suffering producer, Stephen (Dolly’s son, no less!), tries desperately to maintain order, but keeping these dueling divas under control proves to be a recipe for disaster (and laughter!). Don’t miss your chance to see this hilarious production! Critics are raving: “Solid laughs…A sweet night of theater” – Milo Shapiro, Stage and Cinema “Kitchen Witches is a must-see for date night, theatre night or any night you need to laugh and have an honest good time.” – Irish Film Critic Here’s the scoop on the show: BYOB Dinner Theatre: Patrons with table seats are welcome to bring their own food and drinks before the show. Get creative with your menu – pizza, sandwiches, takeout, charcuterie boards, desserts – the possibilities are endless! Complimentary setups and snacks are also provided. Doors open at 6:30 pm, curtain rises at 7:30 pm. Tickets: $20 – $33 (plus a $1 handling fee) Get ready for a night of laughter, guaranteed to leave you feeling satisfied!

Lakeway Painters Workshop (2024) @ Lakeway Activity Center
Many years ago, after an inspiring watercolor class by Johnnie Fields, a well-known Lakeway artist, a group of his students enthusiastically established The Lakeway Painters which continues to grow and thrive today. Each Wednesday, The Lakeway Painters’ club gets together to paint in a supportive environment and have a friendly critique of their members’ art. Bring your artwork and supplies and meet others who like to express creatively with watercolors, acrylics, collages and more. The Lakeway Painters meet every Wednesday from 9:45 am-12:15 pm. Lakeway Activity Center membership is required to participate.  Membership information: Contact Ben Kuenemann at 512-261-8720 or email benkue37@gmail.com.

LTCL Sound Bath Meditation
Oct 24 @ 10:30 am – 11:30 am
LTCL Sound Bath Meditation @ Lake Travis Community Library
Join us for a relaxing Sound Bath meditative experience in which musical instruments like singing bowls are used to relax, realign and re-energize the body and mind. Participants gather around these musical instruments while the instructor guides her students into a deep, calming state. The term “bath” is used because participants are bathing in the sound as well as the vibrations the sound waves put off. These vibrations are incredibly calming as well, with the goal being to help stimulate your body into restoration as well as clearing out any negative emotions or energies that serve you no purpose. Please bring a mat and any other items you might need to feel comfortable such as a pillow, blanket, or eye mask.

Public Safety Day @ Lake Travis Elementary School
Public Safety Day is a free annual event that takes place at the Lake Travis Elementary School located at 15303 Kollmeyer Drive, Lakeway, Texas 78734.  Public Safety Day was founded in 2009 to shine the spotlight on Central Texas first responders and their mission with a fun, educational event for the Lake Travis community. This day gives the public a chance to interact with first responders on a level that does not involve an emergency situation and to learn about what they do and the tools and resources they use to keep you, your family, your pets and your property safe. Agencies from across Central Texas typically will bring their helicopters, police cars, motorcycles, ambulances, fire trucks, rescue boats, ATVs, K-9’s, horses, wildland fire mitigation equipment, incident command centers, SWAT apparatus, casualty tents and buses, and much, much more.

Ladies of the Lake Quilt Bee, which organized in Lakeway in 1997, is a subgroup of the Austin Area Quilt Guild. Activities involve various quilt-related projects.
